This set of pictures are of the Lower Galilee which is located in northern Israel between Haifa and the Sea of Galilee (a.k.a. Kinneret). There are vast views of farmland that seem to go on for miles. At the end of the day we saw shepherds bringing in their flock of sheep or goats. We also saw shopping centers and very large homes. This particular area has many Arab towns/villages.
The first three pictures were taken in the area called Tzipori. The first picture is of the Tzipori stream where a very large and steep rocky hill abuts the water's edge.
Pictures of Yodfat follow beginning with purple/bluish flowers. By the way, these are very small flowers!
In Israel it was common in ancient times for people to live in caves in the hillsides. I've included pictures of three caves that we explored on one hill of Yodfat. The last cave had an olive press and the weights used with the press. On the top of this hill was a town and fortress. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of the ruins.
Yodfat was a Jewish town that was settled probably in the 3rd century BCE. In 67 CE the first battle of the Great Revolt was waged here between the Jews and the Romans.
